Very few people had a car in the 60s and 70s. There were either small french cars or for the somewhat more wealthy – American cars. When I arrived in Portugal in the late 70s, you could see a few of these American cars, but many were in bad condition or not even in use. Maybe it was difficult to get spaceports during Salazar’s dictatorship?
